About the Counselors

Scott Major
[email protected]
Counselor for 7th Grade A-K & All 8th Grade

About Mr. Major:
This is my 7th year at EMS and I love being a Ram! Prior to working at EMS, I was a school counselor at another middle school in Denver and, before that, I was a paraprofessional in Jeffco.

Although I was born in Virginia, I grew up in Colorado Springs, so I am almost a Colorado native. I have a degree in Psychology and a master's in School Counseling. I also have a Master of Arts in Teaching in Biology.

Outside of working at EMS, I volunteer at the Denver Zoo and I was a volunteer leader for Young Life for many years. I love being outdoors and I love nature and wildlife photography (birds of prey are my favorite). I like to play disc golf and ultimate Frisbee and I love going to baseball games (go Rockies). I love to travel and I have taken EMS students to Costa Rica, Belize, and on rafting trips in Utah & Oregon. I am an International Exchange Coordinator and host family for high school exchange students. So, even though I don't have my own children, I have exchange students from Germany, Spain, Norway, and Denmark. My other "child" is my cat, Calypso.

I am looking forward to another great school year at EMS!

Counselor for 7th Grade L-Z & All 6th Grade

About Mrs. Cutshall:
This is my 5th year at EMS and I am so happy to continue my time as a Ram! Before EMS, I was a counselor at Arvada West High School and Golden High School in Jeffco.

I was born in Seattle, WA and moved to Albuquerque, NM when I was 10 years old. After graduating high school, I attended Tennessee Tech University on a volleyball scholarship. I was lucky enough to have a mentor at TTU who encouraged me to do a school counseling internship and that was where I fell in love with this profession! I found my way to Colorado because of graduate school where I received my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver.

When I am not at work, I really enjoy being active. I play in a couple volleyball leagues with my friends, I attend CrossFit classes, and I love going on walks and hikes. Relaxing on the couch with a good book is also a pastime I can’t get enough of. I love adventuring to new places and I like challenging myself to try new things, especially things that are out of my comfort zone. This year, my goal is to learn how to skateboard!

I can’t wait for a great 21-22 school year at EMS!
